MUSIC – constantly evolving, today’s country music requires a mix of fresh new music with legendary favorites to produce a balanced play list. Programmed primarily for the 25-54 year old listener, “Modern Country” is upbeat and in-tune with today’s listeners and their lifestyles, while respecting the historic influences on country music.

Core artists include Brooks & Dunn, Shania Twain, George Strait, Faith Hill, Lone Star, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, Toby Keith, Trisha Yearwood, Tim McGraw and Keith Urban. Plus newcomers on the county music scene that include Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, Sugarland, Blake Shelton, Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney, Craig Morgan and Miranda Lambert.

SPORTS – comprehensive coverage of Montana State University-Northern sports programs includes “live” coverage of ballgames in conjunction with daily and weekly special reports like “The Bright Shining Lights” coaches’ interview program. We cover all the action from Football and Volleyball to Lights & Skylights Basketball and the NAIA National Collegiate Wrestling championships to give our listeners immediate, updated information on MSU-Northern sports.

NEWS – Local, State, Regional and National news with an emphasis on quality and substance. Audio is utilized to insure accurate reporting … no misquotes or misinterpretations because listeners hear the actual quote and audio from the people and events making the news.

AGRICULTURE – Montana’s most listened to farm broadcasters keep our audience updated with the latest information and issues of importance to agricultural producers in our area … the Ag Team that farmers and ranchers rely on for timely information and accurate assessment of the industry.

WEATHER – Prompt, accurate, local weather reporting is a monumental commitment to our listeners. Forecasts are updated immediately and often. The responsibility of notifying our listeners immediately when weather threatens a flash flood, tornado warning, severe thunderstorm activity or winter blizzard is serious business. That’s why we were chosen to be the primary radio station in this area for the Emergency Alert System and responsible for keeping our listeners and other broadcast facilities informed of potential or catastrophic conditions that are of concern, or worse, life threatening!

COMMUNITY SERVICE – It takes an extraordinary commitment to important local concerns, integrity to strive for a balanced presentation of views and creativity to focus the public spotlight on the issues that matter. That’s why all radio is not created equal! It takes a talented team to crystallize radio programming that makes a difference. KPQX has been recognized by their peers and honored with prestigious awards like the National Association of Broadcasters’ Crystal Radio Award for Excellence in Community Service.
